Diary of a Dog
June 23rd
Dear Diary,
Hi diary! A little beagle like me got in a fight with my owners! Today my owners
were fighting again! I tried to tell them that fighting is not the case but all they say back is, “Shut up you dumb dog! Stop it! Stop barking!” But I am not barking (I guess they
don’t understand English)! They would not stop fighting, so I went outside to see what my dad was doing. Like always he was fishing in the pool. A stick and rope was his fishing pole.“Not plastic fish again-- we can’t just eat kibble all the time!” my dad barked.
But I was fine with kibble. At least it’s a different flavor every time! Like mouth-watering steak and home -style salmon. The only one I don’t like is the veggie one.
And of course I get the veggie kind tonight. I guess I got my hopes up too high again!

Dear Diary,
Ok, today I decided I am going to run away! My parents have gone missing and I’m
going to find them! I will miss little Kelly though. I would always comfort her when her parents were fighting. At least I will be coming back. Wait--what if I brought Kelly with me? That would be perfect! I’ll go get her! Wish me luck to get her to come, Diary.

Dear Diary,
I ran away, but without Kelly. She just said, “I love you but quit barking at me! Am I doing anything that bugs you?” So now I am on my own. I can already picture Kelly crying that she misses me. I miss her too, but I must find my parents. As I walked along the road I saw my family! I ran up to them and they said, “What are you doing! Why did you follow us? Just go back home! Please, we are running away because our owners ( not Kelly) told us to get out and opened the front door to let us out!”
“But why? I don’t care-- you should have stayed!” I said as I ran away.

Dear Diary,
Now I really hate my parents! They hurt me like a stab in the heart! I wish they had never run away-- ever! Sorry I’m being so harsh. It’s just that a little beagle like me
has no parents anymore. Bye diary. Wish me a good life.
July 4th
Dear Diary,
Today is the 4th of July. It’s my favorite holiday. I love the fireworks and I get to eat human food! Steak!!! But the only problem is that my parents are not here. I love this holiday because I get to celebrate with my family but all I have is Kelly! Diary I really
hope they come back. Now I am mad at Kelly’s parents. I am mad they let them go! But if I were my parents I wouldn’t go! I would just stand there staring outside with a look on my face that said what am I supposed to do! I heard a knock at the door. Probably a party guest for dinner. But when Kelly opened the door it was not party guest it was my parents! They had come back on my favorite holiday! I was so excited that I did a flip in the air! Kelly gave me a piece of steak for that. I ran to my parents and said, “Hi! How is it going! You came back on my favorite holiday! I missed you so much and I love you so much too! “We came back because we could not live without the little beagle in our life! We could not stop thinking about you so we came back!”my parents said. Well I’ve got to go eat some steak and be with my family! Talk to you later Diary!
July 6th
Dear Diary,
Today I went to the park with my mom, dad, and Kelly! We had so much fun! I got to catch Frisbees, slide down the slides and I attempted to do the monkey bars. Note to self: Never try monkey bars again! It is hard! I like to run around so the park is the perfect place for me! On my way home I saw a fly and I went to bite it. I realized it was a bee! It stung my lip and I spit it out. Thank God we live close to the vet. We were at the vet and I had to get a shot in my lip! Oh the horror! They did not even put me to sleep for it! They did it right away! Oh my lip still hurts! At least I don’t have a big swollen bump on my lip! Well I think I am a big boy now! I got my very first shot! Well Diary I hate to tell you this but this is my last pageL! So I will get
another Diary somehow and write in that one soon. I will miss you Diary but at
least I get to keep you!

When My Dog Broke Her Leg
One day my dad and I were chasing my dog, Coco, around the house because she had got a Popsicle stick in her mouth. As we were running my dad threw a big pillow at her. Instead of being hit with a pillow she slipped and bumped into the wall. Hard! Then she fell on to the carpet and howled in pain. My dad took a look at her and said “she needs to go to the vet” then he picked her up then put her in the front seat of his truck as me and my sister jumped in the back seat and drove to the vet.
We had told our vet, Dr. Vega, the story of how we chased her around and how she
bumped into the wall. Dr. Vega took Coco into the back room to take an X-ray. He told us “Coco has a broken leg.” We asked how many days she would have to stay at the vet and he said three days she would have to stay. The front desk workers said “have a good day and pick her up in three days!”
It was sad without Coco at home. No crazy dog running around the house. No dog
going in your room stealing your socks. No dog that will snuggle with you. It just wasn’t the same without her! And the three days were a long three days! As that day came along we all jumped in the car and drove to the vet. When we got there Dr. Vega was holding coco. She had a hot pink cast on her left leg and was wagging her tail like crazy! We took her home and left her on her bed and let her chew her bone, which was her new welcome back present. We were always carful when we pet her and were very gentle. She could not walk for a while.
About eight to nine weeks later we took coco to the vet for a checkup. She still had
her cast on though. They said that they could check her leg and take the cast off! And of course there was no cast when she was given back!
