Sea Cadets
Ever summer Naval Sea Cadets get to choose whether they want to go to boot camp or not. I chose to go because I learn more for my group like, marching and the commands. Each of the cadets get to choose which boot camp to go to. The commander has to approve it and of course there’s a cost to pay. I chose San Luis Obispo Military base. I stayed there for a week. Some of the other cadets chose San Luis Obispo, too. So whoever was going could either choose to ride with the commanding officer or their parents. I chose to ride with the commanding officer and other cadets did too. We went as a group all the way to San Luis Obispo.
When we got there we signed in, and went to our cabins. Girls were separated from the boys because of sexual contact and privacy. We did a lot of stuff, like running two miles every morning and learning about what kind of stuff the military does. The fun
part about boot camp was doing activities, like the military courses and watching some of the men and women do there drill’s. They taught me about leadership and different things about the navy. One of the things they taught me was knot tying. I had so much fun.
The day of our graduation was kind of sad to me, because I was going to miss everybody I met there, and the fun I had. My mom and brother were there to watch me, and I will never forget this experience.
